The setting is vague forest and countryside fantasy. I noticed that European LARPing is quite well thought out in terms of backstory, but US based is very much combat focused with some other things thrown in. Ours is general, boring pseudo-Tolkien. The nearest LARP group other than that is a Vampire one, which I have no interest in. I'm not a fighter, so I'll be there to deal with the puzzles and such that our barbarians don't want to bother with. One of the main reasons we joined this group despite its lackluster story is that it's one of few in Texas that allow LGBT in. Since me and Alex are a male-male couple, we'd likely get problems anywhere else. I've read stories about how bad it can get and I don't feel like ruining my LARP experience with idiots like that.
