Clout Chasing Is A Disease
So, I went to the wake. It was deeply awkward not knowing the guy but I'm happy I went for my mentor -- As soon as I arrived she told me she had been popping Xanax. I usually roll my eyes at drug use, it's not my scene, but it was obvious she needed support so I didn't say anything.
A lot of people got messed up on tequila in the back of the wake -- Alex's tattoo artist said that a lot of artists just went for clout since there has been a lot of drama on social media about the dead guy. I didn't see the point in posting on my instagram about the situation since ... I didn't know him. It would be performative and honestly not genuine for me to pretend I was mourning; I was only there for my boss.
I looked like a huge square having only a 2L of Topo Chico to pour out but I couldn't justify getting smashed at a wake. Not after my professional funeral background! I'm clutching my pearls at the thought, honestly. Drinking whiskey? AROUND A FRAGILE URN?
Earlier in the day I had gone on a whim to the Farmer's Market with Alex, and I'm happy I did. I got 25 POUNDS OF ONIONS FOR SEVEN DOLLARS so I'm pretty thrilled. We go through like 5 onions a week on dinners so I'm excited that we can save a bit of cash.
I also performed househusbandry and canned some tomatoes (5 lbs for 3$!) in a tamale pot since that was all that was available lol I had never canned anything before other than jellies from grapes, so I was pretty twitchy about it and constantly hovered over my two little pints of crushed tomatoes to make sure they were okay. (They were)
They let out a little "Pop!" when they sealed and I zoomed over and took MANY triumphant pictures. Pictured is
8hyenas beautiful kitchen towel she gave me for Xmas.

I'm glad nobody knocked over the urn, despite all the booze.
