Jelly Weekend
I'm back! Tired and smelling of grape jelly, but back!
Alex and I hit the dusty trail after work on Thursday, out to a ranch about a hour outside of Corpus Christi. It was beautiful, there were cows, lots of alcohol, offroading, dopey faced pitbulls, burger grilling, and more!
Since so much happened I'm going to condense the most interesting parts into bite sized nuggets.
I picked mustang grapes and made delicious jelly. It's taking everything in my power not to eat it straight from the jar right now.
While offroading we found a sunbleached javelina skull. I kept it in a water+detergent combo to leech out any remaining fat but it's now sitting pretty on my bookshelf.
Me, Alex, and friends sat in a flatbed truck and drank beers, which was probably my final initiation into being a Texan. I almost feel like listening to Colter Wall.
Went to Corpus Christi for the first time and was SEVERELY underwhelmed. My thoughts on the city, as they come, are:
Beige. Empty. Slow drivers. Two story Whataburger.
We ended up going to a mythical "Sno Ball" stand that Alex had spoken fondly of from his angsty teenagehood in Corpus. He and I were the minority there, getting a lot of weird looks when standing closely to each other, but also south Texas is not known for its kindness to the homosexuals.
The "Sno Balls" were good as hell, we had the Tiger's Blood flavor :B
Other than that it was nice, lots of sweet dogs (we didn't bring the shiba inu since he's a priss and hates The Outdoors), lots of coffee, lots of greasy food and fun. I'm sad to be back, but I did miss dead people and being in my own bed. BUT I DO MISS SEEING THIS VIEW DAILY. SIGH.

And I have super fond memories of Sno Ball stands from my youth. They are so very good.
