From the Frontlines of Sewing
Aug. 1st, 2020 06:27 pmSo I've only sewed once before, in Home Economics class in Middle School. I made a pencil pouch, or something equally pedestrian. Back then, I had a schoolmarm advising me through the whole ordeal while I thought about Pokemon Silver or Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. This time, I had Youtube and Mommy Blogs to help me out, both of which might have made me stupider (especially the mommy blogs).
So I borrowed Alex's mom's Bernina machine from the 70s and got to making my decorative towels (my sewing machine is still on the road via USPS). I have learned much in the past 5 hours:
1) I can't cut in a straight line
2) I can't sew in a straight line
3) I'm very good at threading a needle
4) Put down the foot before you start sewing
Anyways it's been nothing short of hilarious and NO I will NOT show my massacred towel as you all might lose your faith in me. Maybe if my second towel is better, I will, but first I need to grasp the concept of moving my fabric in a forward motion without sending it veering off course.
