Really! That's so cool! I briefly lived in Los Angeles (North Hollywood, ugh) and I'm surprised that poinsettias thrived there. The weather conditions lately would nuke them otherwise (my basil plant died after one day in the June sun), but maybe you had a very hardy species? And maybe global warming wasn't the disaster it is today lol
