A Small Sewing Victory
Aug. 4th, 2020 09:30 amI did it! I did a non-disastrous sewing project! I sucked it up and stopped using scissors for cutting and got a self-healing mat and cutting wheel ... thing for a significant discount and it's made all the difference. With my newfound ability to cut cleaner lines, I went for the simplest thing I could manage at the time: A dog bandana.

Anyways the shiba hates it because he rarely wears a collar or anything on his neck except when out for walks. We went to Joann's to pick out the fabric for it, and in true gay dad fashion, Alex spent about 7 minutes comparing and contrasting fabrics. Only the best for baby. I wandered off because he vetoed everything I pointed at and eventually he returned with a fabric.
Also today I'm going to the dentist and I'm NOT EXCITED because despite my best attempts at oral hygiene I always end up with a cavity or two. It's genetic in my family to be cavity prone. Fingers crossed that I don't have any because dentists are too damn expensive.

Date: 2020-08-05 02:12 am (UTC)(An aside. I was linked to a friends Kickstarter and it seems to be...a soap dish. I kept reading and watching all the info vids. It’s a soap dish. Like. The kind you take to camp. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/scrubsup/scrubsup-the-solid-shower-revolution?ref=thanks-share I am enthralled.)
Jessa had a Great Dane. Miss Macy Marie. It was so undoglike. Like too smart and needy and bossy. If I farted in front of this dog I felt embarrassed. Like. An almost human dog. She went everywhere with Jessa for 8 years and we finally got along. Also maybe I was just jealous.

You can go to Bath and Body Works and pick up a soap shampoo for $4.25 then go to the Dollar General and grab a plastic soap dish for 99c. What's the difference? I guess they want something fancier looking?
My old dog, Marley (RIP) was a collie and he was like that. And TOO SMART. He could open doors! My parents said he was a human in a past life because he was just so knowing. It can be eerie. Great dog though.

Date: 2020-08-05 04:33 pm (UTC)It went really well, actually! No cavities! I went this morning to get a cleaning and sealant on one tooth that looked suspicious -- It wasn't mandatory, but a $50 sealant protecting me from a $150 or more filling is worth it.
