Another Plant

My September appointment book is almost filled (just have 4 open slots left). Humbled!

In plant news, while I was walking outside to go to the gym, Alex spotted a little abandoned cactus! A taped sign on it said "Christmas Cactus -- Free to a good home" ... How can I deny that?!

I haven't thought of a name for it yet, but I've been doing some research. Apparently the weather is slightly too hot for it, so I'm a little vexed on what to do since I don't have any space inside for it ... I may just put it outside and hope for the best. :C I have miserable lighting in my apartment right now, and have a grow bulb for my plants to keep them alive because otherwise they would all be dead. Even poor Lurch is putting out fewer fenestrations!

When we went to my friend's house a few days ago, her boyfriend said his uncle remodels rentable houses, and I'm really eyeing the idea right now since my poor plants are struggling in this environment... But our lease won't be up for a while. SIGH. I'd love a garden fsdkafjs

Well I think it will be fine outside as long as you don't let it get too dry. I know it's not as hot here, but it's still routinely over 100 and mine does just fine

We had a Christmas cactus for years and it did very well in indirect light. Bloomed twice a year, like clockwork. It got really big (too big for our new place), so we recently gave it to a friend.

Hope your new plant "adoptee" will survive! Wonder what color the blooms will be? Ours were a very pale pink.

Ohhh, pale pink! That sounds so pretty... I didn't know they were owned by other people! I've gotten friends telling them they once had them too!

This one has a few wilted flowers. They look to be salmon colored, but who is to say. I'm going to keep an eye on it -- It's in sort of low light, sort of indirect light, but it's dreadfully humid outside so at least it'll enjoy that.

What a happy looking Christmas cactus! I have one and my relationship with it thus far is a multi-year bid to kill it; so far it has survived everything I throw at it.
