 Thanks for the warm welcomes back, I appreciate it. It's nice to put my thoughts somewhere.

Being in Virginia, we were in the path of the big snowstorm. We got fully iced in with about 8 inches. I have a Soviet WWII trench shovel (long story) that i have been using to crack the ice and go outside, but it can be dangerous still.

This morning we found that when the power was out for 8 hours due to the storm, our freezer broke. We plugged it in and out, but last I checked it wasn't cooling and just making clicking noises. Simultaneously when I was digging last night, we saw that someone skidded out on our road and bumped into our car. No note, of course. So we are bugging Progressive and calling a repair guy. It was nice to snowed in (and then iced in) but I'm pretty pissed that two expensive things break in tandem with to a direct correlation to the snowstorm.

I want to post more pictures here but DW does not allow me to host much, and the picture uploading / messing with process is a pain in the ass. What do people use for image hosting? I got back into gouache painting and want to show off.

Yeah, that would piss me off too! Especially the car bump thing. They could at least leave a note!

Thanks! DW Has a 500 MB minimum, though. I'm about 30% through it already. I will probably run out of space soon and want to find an alternative

Ugh, I'm sorry. That sounds like utter bullshit. We had to get someone to come shovel us out. None of us have good enough bodies to do it solo, and also no shovel.

I'm sorry to hear that your freezer broke and your car got slid into. That sucks so much. I'm fortunate that my housemates/chosen family and I all lived farther north before moving to Virginia and so we all still have our cold weather gear and tools. I know that BiL was out offering to help neighbors at one point as well. Sending warm thoughts and hopes that insurance comes through on the car and that you find a good sale for replacing the freezer. <3
