Weird Eyemasks and Weddings

I got a lamp for my nightstand and I'm very pleased. My sister's lovely fiance sent me an Amazon gift card for my birthday, and though I despise Amazon I'm not going to pass up free money. I also got one out of two of Alex's birthday gifts -- Though his birthday is all the way in July, I still like being prepared. I was going to buy my sister a prayer plant for her birthday (also in July), but she recently went insane at a garden center and bought like 9 different plants. Shit.



I'm not even going to attempt to stage the picture. There it is, complete with a laugh-crying-emoji-shiba-inu-eyemask, Shogun, and a book on serial killers. Guess which book is mine and which is Alex's and win a prize! (nothing)

While I'm happy up there, I'm currently NOT happy with my mother. Holly is engaged and has been since December, and my mom is insistent upon taking over her wedding. She is telling my sister who to invite, who not to invite, what she should wear, et cetera. She doesn't want the fiance's family involved in anything, and doesn't like them. Her reasoning? "They don't like me."

Keep in mind this family invites her out to places, invites her to dinner, always says hello and gives her gifts. She's always like this, though, and if Alex and I get married she will likely think that Alex's Korean aunties hate her because they're speaking Korean to each other, and will pout and cry and make it about her, as usual. Holly just texted me and said that mom refuses to eat dinner because she's just too upset about Holly not wanting to use the venue that my mom demanded she use.

Narcissist parents are something else.

She's a handful, always has been. Grandparents told me she used to be worse and would beat up her boyfriends when she was drunk... Which they laughed about. I was like "Wow this is messed up also I'm 7 why are you telling me this"

Holly has a plant name! You should get her a planter for her new babies, because there's no way she bought nine planters.

Haha thank you! I know we all have mommy issues, but she is just severely narcissistic and everything is about her, even when it isn't. There was a death in Holly's fiance's family, and my mom was sick of hearing about it and said "It's not that big of a deal." ... It was a 21 year old drug overdose but like ... Sure Mom, whatever.

I have no idea what she did, I think she just has 9 plastic containers. She doesn't know much about plants but since I know a lot she tends to ask me questions, as in our recent conversation where she asked if pruning plants hurt them... So naive.

It does hurt them. I have to get my Taurus bff to prune mine when she is over (this happened one time, I had to go to the other room. I only give people "clippings" when something falls off accidentally). What's Holly's sign?

(I showed my mom the pic of your poinsettia and she decided that hers is just going to be "foliage based" which is mom for "Oh hell no.")

I prune mine with only SOME sadness, knowing it will improve their growth, but Holly was texting me as she did it and said, verbatim:
"I'M GONNA CRY..."
"DON'T CRY MY BABIES I HAVE TO DO IT"

She's a Cancer! And she is so deeply, deeply one. Except that hard exterior shell is made of cellophane. Moon in Aries (excitable, emotional), Ascendant in Leo.

HAH I'm happy you guys got a laugh out of Pablito's misery. He's got many buds growing, which is great, but the upcoming 12-hours-of-complete-darkness regime is going to be exhausting. All for those pretty red flowers ... After this year I'm probably not going to do it again and I'll let him grow to the size of Audrey II or something.
