AhhhHHGH.... I'm tired. Yesterday I went to a funeral a little over an hour away, DEEP in bumfuck Texas, to a graveside service with no shade in 96F weather. I worked for 9 hours with no lunch break. That sucked. Also I was the only one wearing a mask, which was concerning. BUT it was a very pretty little cemetery that I enjoyed being at.



Scribbled out some of the names on the tombstones for privacy's sake lol. Despite the raging heat it was beautiful.

The day before, me and Alex went to the local antique mall. The place is MASSIVE, and you rarely see another person in your hall (it works on a grid system) so we felt safe social distancing there. Alex was sweet enough to buy me a pair of creepy porcelain deers to add to my creepy porcelain animal collection.



This is on top of my TV, with a creepy Eastern European angel from Friend Shannon and an assortment of cards I've received lately... The two terrifying rabbits are Timmy and Tommy, but the sweet little deer need names. Do you guys have any ideas?

Lastly, on the way out I found some cards from 1909-1913 for a buck each! And I will be sending them to those of you who gave me your addresses! I love reusing old cards -- They're often so beautiful and I'd rather use them to make someone's day than have them rot in an attic or in the trash. I will probably add a layer of cardstock to the back for my message to my DW friends, rather than erase or try to destroy any messages the people before it had written.

Now I have to find good stationery! I'm really regretting not keep a set of "apology notes" from the fifties. They said things like "although our time together was brief, you'll always be in my thoughts" and "parting is such sweet sorrow, but light will come again!"

I always desperately wanted to use them for my online dates.

AHAHA that's so fucking great but those online dates don't DESERVE the beautiful cordial notes. Maybe like ... An Applebee's coupon or something.

I love those weird frilly notes from back then, honestly. Even earlier than that, mourning stationary! American capitalism started early and mourning became a business, with mourning spoons, stationary, rings, ribbons, etc etc etc. It was like a Disney gift shop.

If there's a safe enough thrift or antique store near you, you can find inexpensive cards there usually. I've found all kinds of bizarre and lovely stationary, postcards, regular cards, et cetera that way that I'm currently hoarding like a dragon for the right occasion.

I'm a taphophile too, I love old cemeteries dearly. I used to live in a place with many old cemeteries and I would go to the cemeteries for lunch or to think. Where I am now has many cemeteries but they are not within walking distance, nor are they historic, so I'd be afraid of walking in on a service.

It's weird to say, but what a cozy-looking little graveyard. I'm just sorry for you it was out in the middle of nowhere.

Those ceramic deer don't look that bad, but the bunnies ... are something out of a nightmare. Look at those beady red eyes. I'd be afraid they were going to come alive and try to smother me in my sleep or something.

It was a genuinely cozy little place. I enjoyed it, it's too bad I was getting broiled in the sun. It was a primarily Polish cemetery, so the names were a lot of fun to look at.

Oh, my boys, Timmy and Tommy ... Alex hates them. He had a dream once about them and it's bothered him greatly but I just love them! I saw them once in an antique store, thought about them for an entire week and then went back to get them at the end of the week. I say they're 'security', since they can see every wall of my home at once, hah.

Well, honestly, I couldn't pronounce their original names that they told me -- It just sounded like dial-up buzzing and screaming!

That cemetery is quite pretty and charming, though I'm sorry that it had no shade and you had to be out there so long in such heat.

I love your creepy ceramic collection, the deer are kind of cute but the bunnies are very creepy (still cute, but so creepy).

Those cards are also pretty neat. I have been to an antique mall in ages, but you really can find such interesting things there.

I really enjoyed the cemetery, it was quite picturesque and pretty, just that damn heat was smothering! I imagine the place is idyllic on a Fall day...

Yes, most people are afraid of those bunnies but I love them so! Their beady red eyes just called out for me to take them home, they NEED ME! Or maybe I was temporarily possessed by the dark forces that surround them.
