I Need Hazard Pay

I'm seeing that psych tomorrow to hopefully get anxiety medications for what me and Alex can only theorize is severe health anxiety with a lil' smidge (or more) of PTSD. Will I keep going back to work? Yes, because I love it. I love the dead people. The pandemic doesn't change that.

Sewing has been a big support. I tend to lose myself in the art of it and my anxiety goes away. I'm not very good at it, but I'm still a beginner so maybe one day I'll be good. I want to make a pair of boxers next, or sleep pants!

I don't have any quips or witticisms about all this. Normally I can think of a snappy thing or two to say but there's really nothing to it other than mental illness hit me, like many other health care workers.

Anyways, I mustered up the willpower to take a photo of my machine. It's a 401a Slant-O-Matic, and isn't it just beautiful? Ignore the mess lol



I'm gonna name it THE ROCKETEER because that's a fantastic movie no one ever talks about anymore. I'm gonna practice my zigzag stitch today before I try to make any clothes.

Also I was at the DMV today and was thrown into the 10th circle of hell. So many lines. So much chaos.

It's a snazzy beast! You'll be one too in some zigzag. So, my gma used to sew me clothes when i was little. And she made me a batman costume with the cape, and the mask with the ears that stood up. For some reason it also came with these pants that were bright orange with jackolanterns and little skeletons.
This was my outfit for 8 months straight.

Now I want to get tearfully pinterest on you and say something like, when you sew you're not only making clothes, you're making memories! *sob*

I'm trying to figure out the zigzag stitch currently, I don't know if it's a special disk that needs to be inserted or not. The instructions are not clear. And I'm a little stupid. I'll figure it out! That sounds like an amazing outfit, thank you grandma. When I was a kid apparently I carried around a plastic jack o lantern halloween bag as my toy just ... cause? I can tell we both are very spooky oriented people.

OMG That's very live laugh love of you.......... I'm making memories of me cursing as I use my seam ripper for the 3rd time.

Great looking machine! Zig zag should really be pretty easy to find on it; it's the second most used stitch after all. Although I suppose the designer could have decided to get slick and complicate things....

When I was I think in kindergarten I wore a tiger costume for... months.. my mom wouldn't let me wear it to school but any time I was home I had it on. She finally made it disappear and I was bereft. My mom made most of my clothing, including costumes, until I was well into my teens.

My mom used to make my Christmas clothes, my halloween costumes, etc. It was a nice time!

When I was just a little older, I became obsessed with having a cape. I'd run around for hours, trying to go fast enough to make the old bath towel stream out behind me. Is it any surprise I LOVE costume events?

The Rocketeer is a perfect name for the beautiful machine! And I agree it's a great movie that doesn't get enough recognition.

I'm glad you've got an appointment with a psych. And send many virtual hugs for having to endure the DMV during this time. That place was already a hellish experience prior, so I cannot imagine how much worse it is right now. <3
